Green tea prevents folic acid absorption

Postby Csg82 » Wed Sep 13, 2017 2:29 pm

I was reading some other forums and people were talking about how tea (green tea, especially, but also black tea) prevents the absorption of folic acid. So I got very nervous - because I drink loads of green tea - and looked up some information on PubMed. Turns out IT'S TRUE. Drinking green and black tea can prevent up to 40% of folic acid to be absorbed no matter the amount (they tested from 0.4mg to 5 mg of folic acid).

I'm linking the study here, if anyone wants more information:

As for me, no more tea of ANY kind while I'm ttc.

Folic Acid 5mg
Pergonal 75iu
Pregnyl 5000
Metformin 500
Baby aspirin

Is the same true for drinking coffee, or caffeine in general?
